Title: Elmer Ellsworth Brown Papers
Dates [inclusive]: 1827-1936
Abstract: Elmer Ellsworth Brown was the Chancellor of New York University from 1911 until his retirement in 1933. Materials in this collection span the years 1827-1934 and include papers from Brown's family members along with documents related to his work as a teacher, principal, United States Commissioner of Education, and Chancellor of NYU. The bulk of this collection is comprised of correspondence with his wife and family, his daily diaries, and mementos from his travels to Europe.
