Nine pages of sermon notes of the Reverend S. Parkes Cadman, dating from 1915.
Biographical Note
S. Parkes Cadman (1864-1936) was born in England and immigrated to the U.S. in 1890. In 1900, Cadman was selected as minister of the Central Congregational Society and Church in Brooklyn, N.Y. During his pastorate, Cadman became the leading Congregational clergyman in the United States, as well as the first U.S. radio preacher. The Central Congregational Church was renamed in memory of Dr. Cadman in 1939.
Scope and Contents
Nine pages of sermon notes of the Reverend S. Parkes Cadman, dating from 1915. Also included is a handwritten note from Cadman to an unknown recipient, dating from 1916, in which Cadman addresses the fate of the United States after World War I. Cadman expresses concern over whether the U.S. will continue to be a moral country or slip into moral decline.
