Abstract

This collection consists of a clipping from the New York Sun containing Brooklyn writer and humorist Charles Battell Loomis's (1861-1911) obituary, as well as a second clipping from an unnamed newspaper containing an article on Loomis. Also includes Loomis's autograph that was removed from a separate document.

Biographical Note

Charles Battell Loomis (1861-1911) was a writer and humorist whose writings appeared frequently in several newspapers and periodicals, including the Atlantic, Harper's, the New York Sun, and the Saturday Evening Post. He was also the author of many books. He attended Brooklyn's Polytechnic Institute, though he did not graduate. Loomis resided in Brooklyn with his wife, Mary Fullerton.
