Historical Note

The Kings County Committee for Collecting Evidence of Frauds and Outrages was a predominantly Republican group that protested the Democratic victory in the Kings County elections of 1871. The Committee conducted an investigation into election fraud on the part of the Democrats, which resulted in the indictment of eighteen individuals, five of whom were convicted.
