This collection contains a small assortment of legal documents relating to residents of Orange County, Queens County, and New York, N.Y.

Scope and Contents

This collection contains a small assortment of legal documents relating to residents of Orange County, Queens County, and New York, N.Y. Orange County documents include a 1769 release from Harmanus Hoffman to William Dobbs, and two deeds involving Abraham, Hendrick, and Jacobus Wannamaker, dated 1794. Queens County documents include two deeds from 1688 and 1698 involving Thomas Wigons (also spelled Wigings) of the town of Jamaica. The one New York City document included in the collection is a deed from 1807 involving Andrew Suffren and merchants William Bayard (1761-1826) and James McEvers. Also included are two military certificates from 1866 issued to Edward C. Phillips (b. 1854 or 5) of the First Regiment of the California Volunteer Infantry.
