Abstract: This collection contains two Civil War discharges issued to Charles Simler (or Simbler) from the 56th Regiment of the New York State National Guard in 1863 and 1865. Simler reenlisted after his first discharge in 1863. The documents are signed by Mustering Officers Captain P. Hanson of Brooklyn (1863) and Lieutenant M. Dolan of Hart Island in New York Harbor (1865).
