Abstract

Clothing issue book for the 84th New York Infantry Regiment during the period 1862 to 1864. The book lists names of soldiers, dates of enlistment, dates and types of clothing purchased, issuing individuals, and witnesses. The 84th New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment was commonly known as the 14th Regiment of the New York State Militia, or the "Fighting 14th," during the American Civil War.

Historical Note

The 84th New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment was commonly known as the 14th Regiment of the New York State Militia, or the "Fighting 14th," during the American Civil War. After the War, several members of the 84th Regiment reenlisted for service in the New York State National Guard.
