Correspondence and notes concerning the genealogy of the White family of Long Island, 1846-1856, and one original document from 1693.
Biographical note
Lemuel Shattuck (1793-1859) was a Boston politician, historian, bookseller and publisher. He was elected a member of the American Antiquarian Society in 1831, and was one of the founders of the New England Historic Genealogical Society in 1844.
Arrangement
This small collection is housed in a single folder with no particular arrangement, except that the oldest document in the collection, dated 1693, is sleeved and at the front of the folder.

Correspondence and notes concerning the genealogy of the White family of Long Island, 1846-1856, and one original document from 1693. The correspondence is addressed to Lemuel Shattuck, and the notes are presumably his, based on his research into the White family's genealogy. The original 1693 item is a legal document pertaining to James White.
