Abstract

The collection consists of photographs and property records which belonged to Frederick and Ann Dunekack (of Brooklyn, New York). The photographs document buildings and businesses throughout Brooklyn, circa 1904. The property records relate to land located in the southern part of the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn, dating from 1863 to 1907.

Scope and Contents

The collection consists of photographs and property records which belonged to Frederick and Ann Dunekack (of Brooklyn, New York).

It contains sixteen photographs of buildings in Brooklyn, circa 1904. A number of businesses and organizations are documented in the photographs, including Hyde and Behman's Theater, Young Men's Democratic Club, Union League Market, Barr Brothers Wines, Arcanum Hall, Wheeler and Wilson Sewing Machines, William K. Bader's Hotel, and the Star Theater.

Addresses represented in the photographs include: 5th Avenue and 54th Street, 350 Atlantic Avenue, 1317-1325 Bedford Avenue, 407 Bridge Street, Central Avenue and Linden Street, 600 Fulton Street, 1660 Fulton Street, 1836 Fulton Street, 2986 Fulton Street, Jay Street and Fulton Street, Nostrand Avenue and Bergen Street, 266 Saratoga Avenue, 31 Sumpter Street, and Wyona Street and Sutter Avenue.

Also included is one photograph of Columbia Hall, located in Richmond Hill, Queens, New York.

Property records include one tax search for property on South 10th Street, near 3rd Street (now Berry Street), dated 1863; one deed from Frances Bartholomew to Abigail Farllay for property on Taylor Street, near Wythe Avenue, dated 1888; and one contract between William H. Cooke and Frederick J. Dunekack for property on Lynch Street, near Lee Avenue, dated 1907.
