The sub-series contains records of scholarship and promotion (or academic transcripts) of Packer Collegiate Institute students, dating from circa 1860 to 1979.

It includes:

Permanent Record of Promotions for 1869 and 1884; Semi-Quarterly Reports of Scholarship circa 1883-1898; Permanent Record: Semi-Quarterly Reports of Scholarship 1899-1911, vol. I-VIII.

Sixteen bound ledgers titled Semi-Quarterly Reports of Scholarship, dated between 1883 and 1898. Student transcripts include student name, age, address, grade level and scholarship in various subjects. Arranged alphabetically by last name of student. Additional students are included in the index. Dates of admission, promotion, graduation or withdrawal are recorded as well as the school from which the student was admitted and the class to which he/she was assigned, and the college to which the student was admitted, if any.

This sub-series contains the transcripts from the Packer Collegiate Institute Secondary School and Junior College, dating from 1922 to 1967. The transcripts include some or all of the following information: Student grades, dates entered and left Packer, date of birth, home address, parent's name(s), standardized test scores, extra-curricular activities, religious affiliation, and photographs. While most of the transcripts indicate if they are from either the Secondary School or the Junior College, there are some that remain ambiguous. There are records that contain information from both the Secondary School and the Junior College, and occasionally even Elementary School. Some transcripts show both maiden and married name if the student's status changed while attending the school. In most cases, the record is filed by maiden name. However, there are a few records where the maiden name was crossed out and replaced by the married name, in which case it is filed by the married name.

This sub-series is comprised of student academic records, which were documented from circa 1900 to 1960. Records include report cards, transcripts, teacher comments, parent/teacher/student/principal correspondence, student photographs, and various notes (religious background, date of birth, parents' names, academic standing).

The sub-series contains student transcripts and report cards for Packer Collegiate Institute students of all grades, dating from circa 1880s-1966. Some of these files were likely removed from Sub-series 3.2: Secondary and Junior College Transcripts and/or   Sub-series 3.3: Elementary Student Transcripts at some point in the past.

The sub-series contains student attendance and admission records dating from 1883 to the 1960s.

This sub-series contains the Regents Examinations of Packer Collegiate Institute, dating from 1874 to 1882 and 1910 to 1950. There are some gaps between June 1931 and 1938, and no records for 1949. Information regarding student's age, address and grades on examinations in academic courses are handwritten in the booklets. The examinations were administered by the principal and signed by the deputies of examination. It also includes one Regents Exam confirmation, dating from 1870.

Sub-series includes the minutes of the Academic and Collegiate Teachers' Associations and other faculty organizations, dating from 1883 to the 1970s. The various faculty committee minutes provide insight into the inner-workings of Packer drawn from the perspectives of faculty members. The minutes include draft examination schedules and letters to the Teachers' Associations from students and staff. Additionally, the sub-series contains faculty manuals (1967-1982), directories (2002-2006), and assorted miscellaneous files.

Scope and Contents

This sub-series contains files on individual faculty members, as well as faculty events and clubs, which were collected by Packer's Development Office. The dates of the material range from circa 1840s to 2007. An incomplete finding aid that includes dates through 2006 for faculty members containing name, subject taught, and date of death can be found at the beginning of the sub-series.

Included in this series are correspondences between faculty members; the writings of faculty members; newspaper clippings; personal letters and obituaries. The majority of faculty files are composed of information questionnaires and/or the initial employment applications. Individual faculty files of particular interest are Caroline Chesebrough, a 19th century writer; Bruce Tulloch, former Director of the Upper school; Eleanor Bannister, class of 1875 and distinguished artist who painted many portraits of Packer notables; Alex Bernstein, son of Leonard Bernstein; and Stephen Koplowitz, professional dancer/choreographer and director of Packer's dance program from 1984 onward.
