Biographical Note
Henry Nagel (1883-1964) was a bank controller and life-long Brooklyn, New York, resident. He had a long and successful career at Chase Bank and its predecessor institutions. He married Caroline Newell on October 7, 1908. Their only child, Winifred Gladys Nagel Pitt, was born on July 5, 1912. His banking career began in 1904 after his graduation from Boy's High School, in the Bedford–Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn. In the mid-1920s, he briefly worked at Chase Bank's Paris branch. He was also a basketball player in his youth, and avidly followed the Crescent basketball team at his church, St. Thomas Episcopal Church.
