Abstract

The Photographic portraits of Danny Kaye and Sylvia Fine is comprised of two modern 8" x 10" black-and-white photographic prints of Danny Kaye (at age 7 or 8) and Sylvia Fine (at age 3). In the portraits, Danny is shown outdoors sitting in a toy car, while Sylvia is shown outdoors sitting on a large rock. The photographic prints were reproduced from photographs taken circa 1916 to 1920.

Biographical note

Danny Kaye and Sylvia Fine met while working on an off-Broadway play in 1939 and married in 1940. They had one daughter, Dena, born in 1946. Danny Kaye (1913-1987) was born in Brooklyn and went on to become a well-known singer, actor, dancer, and comedian. Sylvia Fine (1913-1991) was a Brooklyn-born lyricist, composer, and producer.
