Abstract: (Robert) Coleman Dowell (1925-1985) was a composer, lyricist, poet, playwright, novelist, and critic. He corresponded with many famous authors and well-known personalities from the early 1960's through 1984. The collection includes correspondence, original sheet music composed by Dowell for television and Broadway musicals during his early years in New York City, photographs, and manuscripts of published and unpublished novels, poetry, short fiction, and plays.
