Abstract

Tom Savage (1948), a native New Yorker, is an American poet and author. He has published several books and magazines, and is most closely associated with the New School as a writer and publisher. This collection documents Savage's poetry dating between 1976 and 1997, with the bulk of the materials ranging from 1992-1997. Materials include print publications and photocopies of poems, lists, and one manuscript.

Biographical / Historical

Tom Savage, an American poet and author, was born in New York City in 1948. He has published several books and magazines, and is most closely associated with the New School as a writer and publisher. In 1976, he attended the Naropa Institute and co-edited the inaugural issue of Roof magazine with James Sherry. Savage's writing explores the social inequalities of urban life and reflect his interest in Eastern religion and philosophy. He taught workshops at the Poetry Project, Juliard, and Encore Community Center in New York City.
