Abstract: Michael Colby's grandparents, Ben and Mary Bodne, owned the Algonquin Hotel from 1946 to 1987, and Colby's book The Algonquin Kid: Adventures Growing Up at New York's Legendary Hotel chronicled his childhood and early adulthood while living in the hotel with his grandparents. This collection represents Colby's family connection to the Algonquin Hotel through clippings, photographs, publicity material, letters, autographed books, and objects. Recordings and letters related to Michael Colby's work as a librettist, lyricist, and writer in New York can also be found in this collection.
