Abstract

Thomas G. Neumiller was born in 1937 in Peoria, Illinois. A fter graduating from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois in 1959, Neumiller studied theater history in West Germany on a Fulbright scholarship. He was later stationed in Stuttgart, Germany, as an officer in the United States Army Military Intelligence. Neumiller received an M.F.A. from the Yale Drama School, where he studied stage direction, and taught theatre at Wheelock College and Stony Brook University, where he remained until he retired in 1997. He founded the Stony Brook Summer Playhouse, serving as its Artistic Director for ten years. The collection consists of letters, printed materials, photographs, drawings, clippings, and other materials Thomas Neumiller assembled to compliment letters he received from two women who he knew, Friedelind Wagner and Margaret Hamilton.

Neumiller received an M.F.A. from the Yale Drama School, where he studied stage direction, and taught theatre at Wheelock College and Stony Brook University, where he remained until he retired in 1997. He founded the Stony Brook Summer Playhouse, serving as its Artistic Director for ten years. Thomas G. Neumiller died on April 22, 1998 at his residence in Stony Brook, New York.
