Scope and Content Note

The Frank W. Crane Photograph Collection spans the period from 1901 to 1913 and contains photographs of New York City and of trees throughout the city and New England. The collection is divided into two series by format: Negatives; and Prints.

Negatives are filed by N-YHS assigned numbers. Most negatives were titled by Crane. N-YHS-assigned descriptive titles appear in brackets. Prints are arranged into two subseries: Numbered and Unnumbered. Numbered photos follow the numbering in Series I. Unnumbered prints are arranged by geographical subject.
