Access Restrictions

The bulk of the collection is open to qualified researchers at New-York Historical Society. One box of documents (designated as Series XII. Restricted Files) is closed until 2039 as a condition of the donation.

Materials are stored offsite and advance notice is required for use. Please contact prior to your research visit to coordinate access. Keep in mind that it will take between two (2) and five (5) business days for collections to arrive, and you should plan your research accordingly.

Use Restrictions

Taking images of documents from the library collections for reference purposes by using hand-held cameras and in accordance with the library's photography guidelines is encouraged. As an alternative, patrons may request up to 20 images per day from staff.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Gift of Lynne Sagalyn, February 2019. The paper files were received in March 2019. Digital files were received in February 2020 and May 2021.

Processing Information

The paper files were processed by archivist Larry Weimer in February 2021. The digital files of primary documents were processed by digital archivist Margo Padilla when they were transmitted to N-YHS in February 2020, and described in the finding aid by Weimer in March 2021. Digital files of Sagalyn's work product were transmitted to N-YHS in May 2021; these were processed then by Padilla and added to the finding aid by Weimer in August 2021.


As of August 2021, additional files, primarily of images and restricted files, are expected to be received in time from Sagalyn.
