Biographical / Historical
Nancy Sirkis was born in New York City in 1936. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Rhode Island School of Design and a Master of Arts from Hunter College. Published books of her photographs include "Pleasures and Palaces" (1962), "One Family" (1971), and "Reflections of 1776: The Colonies Revisited" (1974).
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of 8 color digital prints from an ongoing project by photographer Nancy Sirkis called "Five Boroughs," a study of New York City begun in 2004. It includes 2 photos each of Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens, and 1 photo each of the Bronx and Staten Island. The photographs were taken between 2006 and 2008, and focus on the streetscape and built environment of particular neighborhoods. The inkjet prints on Hahnemuhle paper measure approximately 17"x30", and are captioned, signed, and dated by the photographer, Nancy Sirkis.
