Abstract

Digitized photographs taken by retired freelance photographer Frank Battaglia of Edith "Little Edie" Bouvier Beale in 1979 and the New York/Coney Island Polar Bear Club circa 1978-79.

Biographical / Historical

Frank Battaglia is a retired freelance photographer born in Mount Vernon, New York in 1954. Battaglia graduated with a BFA degree in fine art photography in 1979 from the School of Visual Arts in New York City.

Content Description

Thirty-two digitized photographs of Edith "Little Edie" Bouvier Beale, daughter of Edith Bouvier Beale and cousin of Jacqueline Onassis, in 1979 at Grey Gardens in East Hampton, New York. Thirty-six digitized photographs of the New York/Coney Island Polar Bear Club circa 1978-79 at Coney Island, New York. The digitzed photos were received from photographer Frank Battaglia on two CDs. All files are in JPG file format and were transferred off the CDs to N-YHS servers.

Conditions Governing Access

Open to qualified researchers. The digital images can be made available online for viewing only. To arrange to receive a link to the desired digital images, contact the Print Room Librarian at printroom@nyhistory.org.

The CDs that hold the original donated images are stored with the collection for context and back-up. Patrons may request to see the CDs, but they may not open the discs or files from the CDs. Only the digital files as preserved on N-YHS servers may be viewed.
