Abstract: The collection holds 23 boxes (seven of glass and acetate negatives) of visual and written material pertaining to James Reuel Smith's book Springs and Wells of Manhattan and the Bronx, New York City, at the End of the Nineteenth Century, published by the New-York Historical Society in 1938.

The photographs are digitized and available in the  Shelby White and Leon Levy Digital Library.
Quantity: 11.84 Linear feet (16 archival boxes, 7 boxes of negatives)
Location: Materials are stored offsite and advance notice is required for use. Please contact printroom@nyhistory.org prior to your research visit to coordinate access.
