Scope and Contents
Bernard Abramofsky (also known as Leonard Aibel) was a member of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade who was also involved in theater and appeared in vaudeville performances in Spain. He deserted several times, was returned to the lines, and was eventually shot by one of his comrades in a well-known case summarized in Peter Carroll's book, The Odyssey of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade. This collection contains three letters from Abramofsky in Spain in 1937 to Claire (Clarissa) Berger.
