Immediate Source of Acquisition note

The collection was received in several accessions. The Democratic Socialists of America sent a gift of early DSA and DSOC records in 1980. The accession numbers associated with this gift are 1980.017, NPA.2002.022, and NPA.2006.030. Seven cartons of organization material was donated in 1984. Materials in Box 18 was donated by the Midwest Regional Staff in 1985.

Processing Information note

Photographs were separated from this collection during initial processing and were established as a separate collection, the Democratic Socialists of America [International Union of Socialist Youth World Festival] Photographs (PHOTOS 129). In 2014, the photograph collection was reincorporated into the the Democratic Socialists of America Records.

In 2014, the archived websites were added as a series.

Series I was processed as the Democratic Socialists of America and Michael Harrington Correspondence by David Donabedian in May 1991. Series II-XI were processed by Alizah Zinberg in January 1985. Series XII consists of a box level inventory, done in circa 2009.
