Abstract

This collection covers the period from the U.S. arrest in 1979 of the twenty one year old Palestinian, Ziad Abu Eain, to his extradition in 1982 to Israel, where he had been charged with an act of terrorism. There are legal documents and correspondence, letters from representatives of Arab countries, and clippings from the press.

Biographical Note

Ziad Abu Eain, a Palestinian citizen, was residing in the United States in the late 1970s, when he was accused of planting a bomb in Tiberias, Israel that killed two people and injured 36 people in May 1979. The Israeli government requested the extradition of Abu Eain in 1979 from the United States (US) for him to stand trial in Israel. Abu Eain fought his extradition in US courts for two years, before being extradited.
