The collection consists of a portion of the records of the American Association of University Professors Academic Freedom Committee, and consists of files titled by years, topics, individuals, and universities, all relating academic freedom.

The files contain newspaper and periodical clippings and other printed emphemera, reports, circulars, some correspondence, and pamphlets, most produced by other organizations. The bulk of the material covers the 1950s-1970s.
