The National Security Archive is an independent non-governmental research institute and library located at George Washington University. The Archive collects and publishes declassified documents obtained through the Freedom of Information Act. The Archive also serves as a repository of government records on a wide range of topics pertaining to the national security, foreign, intelligence, and economic policies of the United States.
Scope and Contents
This small collection consists of copies from the National Security Archive at George Washington University. The documents comprise the petition for the release of the record of the Federal Grand Jury which indicted and convicted Julius and Ethel Rosenberg in 1950-1951. The petition was brought before the United States District Court of the Southern District of New York in 2008 by the National Security Archive, the American Historical Association, and other leading U.S. historical associations. The collection consists of the main petition as well as declarations by Bruce Craig, Robert Meeropol (son of the Rosenbergs) and others.
