Historical/Biographical Note

Sidney and Clara Solomon were both New York anarchists and were members of the Vanguard Group in the 1930s and the New Trends Group in the 1940s. The Vanguard Group was a New York anarcho-communist group, which published a magazine called Vanguard and dissipated during World War II.

Minutes from several 1939 Vanguard Group meetings were separated from this collection during initial processing and were established as a separate collection, the Vanguard Group Minutes (TAM 389). In 2015, the Vanguard collection was reincorporated into the Sidney and Clara Slomon Papers.
