Abstract
Q-Wave is a community organization dedicated to the support of and advocacy for individuals of Asian and/or Pacific Islander descent who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, queer, transgender, gender variant, or questioning. The organization aims to promote visibility and empowerment through various forms of social, political, and educational organizing, including lectures, workshops, film screenings, and participation in public demonstrations. This collection consists of materials created and used for the Q-Wave contingent of the 2014 and 2015 Lunar New Year for All parades in New York City. Materials include a rainbow sash, two sheep costumes to celebrate the Year of the Sheep, and 14 demonstration posters with messages in Chinese, English, and Japanese promoting inclusivity and challenging homophobia and discrimination.

Q-Wave often collaborates with other groups in their efforts, including The Asian Pride Project, Gay Asian & Pacific Islander Men of New York (GAPIMNY), the National Queer Asian Pacific Islander Alliance (NQAPIA), Project Reach NYC, SALGA-NYC, and Tarab NYC.

Scope and Contents
This collection consists of materials created and used for the Q-Wave contingent of the 2014 and 2015 Lunar New Year for All parades, a collaborative effort between Q-Wave, Project Reach NYC, and Gay Asian & Pacific Islander Men of New York (GAPIMNY) that encourages participation in Lunar New Year parades in the greater New York City area. Materials include a rainbow sash, two sheep costumes to celebrate the Year of the Sheep, and 14 demonstration posters with messages in Chinese, English, and Japanese promoting inclusivity and challenging homophobia and discrimination.
20 oversize posters added to the collection in 2018 feature signs and artwork from the 2017 Lunar New Year for All parade. Posters contain writing in English and Chinese celebrating the year of the rooster, which feature hand drawn and painted artwork by parade participants.
