The Screen Actors' Guild opened its first branch office in New York City in 1938.
The minutes of the New York Section of the Screen Actors' Guild reflect the governance
and activities of SAG at the local branch level and provide insight into New York
SAG's evolving role in the national organization. The minutes also reveal much about
SAG's relationship to other unions both in and outside of the entertainment industry.
