David Owen's "High School"

David Owen's "High School"

Author:
David Owen

David Owen goes back to high school undercover. For the book, he changes all names and mixes identities of school, location and individuals and calls the book a work of "faction" -- a cross between fiction and faction. Real, however, was his foray back into a world left behind. A version appeared earlier in Esquire.

Book Excerpt:
"All that anyone with a high school diary has to do to make himself feel humle is to reread a few of the old entries. I am appalled when I look back at the abortive journals I began in the aftermaths of romantic crises when I was sixteen and seventeen years old . . ."
