The Lost First Edition of Upton Sinclair's The Jungle

This is the original expurgated form of Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle," as published as a serial from February to December of 1905 in the Socialist newspaper, Appeal to Reason, which was published in Girard, Kansas. The book, edited by the late Gene DeGruson, a professor at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas, also includes Sinclair's correspondence with the publication. The book is also annotated with the changes Doubleday made for the commercial edition, which was published in 1906.
