All photographs in the collection appear to have been taken from the Brooklyn Heights Promenade facing west. The most prominent subjects in the photographs are high-rise buildings in Lower Manhattan facing Brooklyn.
Biographical note
Leslie H. Newman (1908-1982) was an amateur photographer and resident of Brooklyn during the mid 20th century.
Scope and Contents
The Leslie H. Newman photographs of the Manhattan skyline date from circa 1950 to 1969 and contain 36 items. All photographs in the collection appear to have been taken from the Brooklyn Heights Promenade facing west. The most prominent subjects in the photographs are high-rise buildings in Lower Manhattan facing Brooklyn. The photographs also show the East River and New York Harbor, the Brooklyn Bridge, Brooklyn and Manhattan piers, and the Lower Manhattan and Wall Street skyline.
