Abstract
This collection consists of 128 color photograph of New York City ca. 1970-1995.
Biographical Note
Julian Hyman (1925- ) is an internist and oncologist from New Jersey. He became interested in photography while working in Korea early in his medical career. After returning to the United States, he practiced medicine at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital, and continued using his photography skills to capture snapshots of city life.
Scope and Contents Note
The Julian Hyman Photograph Collection consists of 128 color photographs of New York City, mainly Manhattan, taken between 1970 and 1995. The photographs include aerial views; images of construction, building facades, storefronts, and architectural details, including images of neglected and abandoned buildings; bridges and waterfront scenes; street scenes and street portraits; and views of the World Trade Center, Empire State Building, museums and galleries, and statuary. Most photographs are unidentified.

Available by advance appointment only. To schedule an appointment, contact the Print Room Librarian at printroom@nyhistory.org. Photocopying undertaken by staff only. Limited to twenty exposures of stable, unbound material per day. (Researchers may not accrue unused copy amounts from previous days.)
